Myla’s Adventures – The Magic of Christmas

Christmas is such a special time of year for little ones.  So many fun activities to enjoy the season!  Myla was so excited this year about Santa coming to visit and all the presents he would leave behind.  We tried really hard to teach her that Christmas was more than just presents but it is a challenge with such a young child.  We started with a book called “The Story of Christmas”.  I really love how it focuses on the birth of Jesus and gives her an idea on why we celebrate Christmas.  She loves to read it and show me all the angels, goats and baby Jesus.  It is such an easy book for her to follow along with and I am so glad she enjoys it so much.  We also took a trip to visit Santa at the Killeen Mall.  I was really disappointed I couldn’t take my own photo but we had fun looking at the fake snow and huge tree next to him.  We also strolled (drove) for Christmas lights.  This was my favorite activity.  We found a house all done up by Willow Springs.  It was amazing to see how many lights were on display and Myla was mesmerized!  Christmas lights are just so pretty!  I will admit that I loved  having the lights from our tree in the background for so many photos.  I may just ask my husband if we can keep lights up all year round…LOL!

Then we moved on to Christmas eve activities, like making cookies for Santa.  Myla did so great helping my stir and measure ingredients.  Then came the fun part, decorating!   The sprinkles were her favorite part and she probably ate more than she put on the cookies but that is the fun part of making sugar cookies.  Christmas morning she checked to make sure Santa had tried her goodies.  Her expression when she saw all her presents was priceless!!  She had so much fun ripping through gifts.  Santa brought her lots of stuffed animals and books.  She spent all of Christmas day going from new toy to new toy and it was so nice to enjoy how magical Christmas is through her eyes.
