Newborn Delivered at Flower Hospital
When I got the text from this family that baby Emersen had arrived, I knew their room number was familiar. Turns out, it was the exact same room I had shot another fresh 24 hospital session in just a few weeks ago. What are the chances! This delivery/recovery room was so spacious. It must have been so nice to not have to change rooms after her sweet baby girl. I remember being so tired after having M but I couldn’t rest because we were waiting to be transferred. I just wanted to sleep! Haha! It is so nice that more hospitals in the area are keeping moms in one room. Check out more from their session here.

Doesn’t this moment just melt your heart? Dad was so in love with his sweet baby. I wanted to play up the backlight from the window by converting this to black and white. I used my usual preset from Erin Hensley (window light). Then I selectively adjusted the highlight slider to blow out more of the window. I tweaked the shadow slider so dad and baby would stand out more. Then, I cropped it a bit closer and cloned out the electrical socket. I fished the processing by adding a little bit of a vignette. I love how this conversion allows the viewer to focus on the emotion in this image.
