One of my favorite parts of a fresh 48 session is photographing the new baby in the bassinet. I love the way these photos lend towards telling a story of the place they were born, surrounded by the love of their parents.

For this image, I took advantage of the big blank wall and placed the bassinet against it. I didn’t like the brown/red undertone of the paint so I decided to change that!

Before & After

I wanted this little guy to pop more in this particular photo and thought darkening the wall behind would achieve that. My favorite tool in photoshop, the selective color box, was used to make that change. I played with the neutral color option and increased the black while decreasing the yellow. This made the tone a bit more green than red or yellow.

Then I inverted the layer and brushed it onto the wall. This is a meticulous process around the baby and bassinet but so worth it. I loved how this one change really allows him to be the center of the image instead of blending into the background.
