Toledo Lucas County Public Library
After moving to Perrysburg, I realized how close we were to a pretty amazing library. The main library in downtown Toledo is just an incredible space for the kids to visit. When you enter the doors to the children’s area, there is so much to explore! From an old car, to huge fish tank, to all the spots perfect for enjoying a story; the kids will be so entertained here. M & J loved getting the chance to explore each room in the children’s section and loved the mix of toys, books and the many windows to look over downtown.

Before & After
I had to be quick with my camera on this outing since I was being mom and photographer. My little guy can make that challenging for me because it seems when I’m concentrating on something else is usually when he gets himself into trouble.
When I noticed him sitting in front of this amazing space mural, I backed up so I could include most of it in my frame. Then M came over and sat next to him, engaging him. When I’m photographing my kids, I love to look for those little connections because they translate into beautiful moments on camera.
I liked the colors of the mural, but I felt hose colors were competing from M & J. I chose to convert this to black and white. I love how doing that really highlights the two of them. I like to keep my conversions classic with a lot of true whites and blacks and then adding a little contrast. I also cropped the image in and straightened it just a little bit. I can’t seem to shoot straight at all! Love the final image of the two of them.
