Natural maternity poses with your husband…no awkward photos here!

You’re so excited to be growing your family, and you already know you want to hold onto this season with photos together…

…but then that little question sneaks in.

What are we actually supposed to do in the photos? What are the best maternity poses with my husband?

Because no one wants to feel stiff or like you stepped straight into a 90s photo studio moment.

You don’t have to worry about posing with me!

The photos you’ll love most usually come from the way you naturally reach for each other, the smile that sneaks in when he looks at you, or the little ways you instinctively move closer together.

I’ll give you simple direction when you need it, then let the two of you interact naturally so your photos feel like the two of you, not a series of poses.

Wrapped up Together

You might be thinking… okay, but what am I going to do in front of the camera that actually looks good, right?

Absolutely. The difference is that I’m never trying to force you into a pose that doesn’t feel like you. I’m simply giving you a place to start, then letting the two of you settle into what feels natural.

One of my favorite prompts is having your partner come up behind you and pull you in close.

Every couple does it differently. He might wrap his arms around your shoulders, your waist, or your belly. You might reach back for his hands or lean your head against his.

From there, I mostly step back and let you be together. Maybe you start talking, maybe you laugh, maybe you simply stand there for a second enjoying being close. Those little shifts and reactions are what make the photos feel like you, instead of something that could belong to anyone else.

Stay Close

When you’re in front of my camera, one of the first things I’ll always guide you into is simply getting close.

There’s something about closing that space between you that instantly softens everything and brings a sense of ease. It shifts the focus away from what do I do? and back to just being together.

And the beauty is, this can happen in so many different ways, layered into almost every moment we create.

A quiet whisper, your heads leaning in, hands finding each other or resting on your belly, a slow snuggle in close… it all works in the most natural, beautiful way.

This season is full of anticipation and change, and the way you’re together in it right now… that’s what we’re really holding onto.

Let’s Take a Walk

Walking is one of my favorite prompts for just about anyone in front of the camera.

It naturally lowers that awareness of being photographed and gives you something simple to do, instead of wondering where to look or how to stand.

I’ll guide you through this in a few different ways, but it always starts the same… just the two of you, moving together.

You might walk hand in hand, close and connected, or drift a little apart with one of you gently leading the other. Sometimes you’ll fall into step, sometimes you won’t, and those little in-between moments are what make it feel real.

There’s often laughter, a quick glance, a hand reaching back… and before you even realize it, you’ve forgotten about the camera completely.

And that’s when things start to feel easy and natural.

The Heart Of It All

Your belly really is the heart of this season, so we’ll always make space to slow down and let it take center stage.

I love noticing how your hands naturally find their way there, or how your partner’s hands gently layer over yours. There’s something so simple and meaningful about that connection.

We’ll come in a little closer here, focusing on those small details and the quiet ways you’re already connected to your baby.

Sometimes it’s a soft touch, sometimes a cuddle in close, or even a little kiss… and it all just adds another layer to your story.

The in-between

I can usually tell when you’ve forgotten I’m even holding a camera.

You’re focused on each other instead. You’re talking, smiling, teasing each other a little, and everything starts to feel more comfortable.

Your partner often has a lot to do with that. Some have you laughing from the very beginning, and some need a little help from me to loosen up.

Once that happens, the photos start to reflect what it actually feels like to be together. Those are the ones you’ll reach for years from now because they’ll remind you of this season exactly as it was.

Rest Together

There is something about the way your partner holds you that no one else can, and I always make time for a few cozy, seated photos together.

You might lean into him, rest your head on his shoulder, or tuck in close however it feels comfortable.

I don’t have to say much here. Once you’re settled in together, the connection is already there. Those quiet moments often become some of my favorite photographs because they feel so true to the two of you.

Soaking in this season

This season is full of anticipation, change, and so much love growing all at once.

You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do. You just need to show up, be together, and let yourself feel it.

I’ll take care of the rest. If that’s the kind of experience you’ve been hoping for, I’d love to create that with you.
