What to do when toddlers don’t want to take photos

I was so excited to be able to photograph this family! Mom chose this gorgeous dress that is now available in my client closet. We decided to meet at Maumee Bay for photos. This location and that dress would be incredible for their session.

After we moved closer to the water, one of the little ones wasn’t feeling photos. The unpredictable behavior of your kids may be the biggest reason you don’t want to schedule a photo session. It can be nerve-wracking to put the time, energy, and money into family photos only to have your little one not want to cooperate.

I’m here to tell you it’s okay! Sometimes, little ones need a break or a change of scenery. Luckily, I have lots of experience in distracting children or finding creative ways to help those kids that need some extra persuasion to take photos. As a mom myself, I do understand and I want you to know if your child is acting this way we will still create magic!

That’s exactly what I did with this family. I love the connections I was able to document for them. Also, the fact that dad mentioned specifically that mom needed this session because she is always the one taking the photos. I hope they can look back on these photos in the years to come with so much fondness!
