Now booking 2024 outdoor and studio sessions!

I’ve searched around town for the best family photo session locations and I’m sharing them with you. Keep reading to learn my top 5 family session locations in Toledo.

Nothing makes me happier than a pretty spot filled with gorgeous light and there are a few places around town that are beautiful backdrops for a photo session with your family.

When I’m location scouting, I’m looking for a few things. The first thing is I want to make sure it is a safe spot for your children to run because they will run! That means we need to be far away from any roads or anything else that would be unsafe. Second, is the light. I love to shoot with the light behind you (this is called backlight) but also filtered through trees. This creates such a dreamy background for your images. Lastly, is the scenery. I want our location to have versatility but also have some type of landscape we can use in your photos to create lots of variety within your gallery.

The following are some of my favorite locations for photos in the Toledo Ohio area. I’d love to know which one you would choose for your session!

A Meadow

Meadows provide such a fun spot to cozy up with your family. There is usually tall grass or wildflowers growing and both of those always photograph so well. It’s also a plus if there is a bit of open sky close by so we can capture your family in front of a beautiful sunset.

The Woods

Ohio is blessed with so many wooded areas and there is nothing like being surrounded by trees. Whether it is “the spot” at Oak Openings or another wooded area, there are plenty of options around town. The way the light filters through the trees is always beautiful in every season.

The Water

Water and light are two of my most favorite things to photograph. If you don’t mind getting a little wet, then picking a water location we can explore together will translate into such fun images for you. Plus your kids will have a blast!

A MetroPark

The Toledo area is blessed with so many gorgeous Metroparks. A few of my favorites for photos are Side Cut Metropark, Oak Openings, and the Toledo Botanical Garden. I love exploring all the trails with my family and coming across beautiful spots for your session.

Anywhere The Light Is

Sometimes you don’t need to go far to discover a photogenic location. While grand locations will always photograph well, sometimes the simplest of locations will do the same. One of my favorite locations for a recent family session was beside a gas station. Not very glamours but it had the best light and lots of greenery so it worked wonderfully.
