What is a Storytelling Family Session?

Family sessions focus on your connection with your family. How? It’s simple, by allowing everyone in your family to be their self. There is no stiff posing and no direction to say cheese. Instead, I gently guide you together and document the things you normally do in the most beautiful way. Viewing your images will have you falling in love with your family all over again. Having this session in your home allows for everyone to relax and for all those unique details of your family to be forever remembered.

How does a Storytelling Family Session work? What do we “do” in front of the camera?

One of the perks of a lifestyle family session is you can do whatever you would normally do! If your kids want to run around the backyard or dress up as their favorite Disney character, then let them. There is no need to pose for me and get stressed that your kid isn’t smiling for the camera. I work hard at these sessions to capture the true and candid expressions of your child. I want you to look back at these images and know that is your child’s real smile and not their “cheesy” one. Keeping the children engaged and happy and translates into wonderful, candid photographs. I love to capture the family relationship authentically and letting everyone relax and be themselves allows us to do just that.

Why does the session take place at my home?

Your children will tenderly remember so much about your home and the special moments spent inside with you. They will remember how cozy it felt bundled up on the couch during the cold months of winter and the smell of your cookies in the oven. Having someone in your home to take photos can give you butterflies in your stomach. Maybe you think your house is too plain or maybe it is too cluttered with toys and that may be true but it is also the place that your children will write so many of their memories. Of course it make sense to have document them here with an in home photo session. Anywhere inside and around your home will make for a great spot for photos and I’m happy to preserve this meaningful location for your family.
