She calls this her tree, and every spring, we wait for it to bloom. These photos mean so much to me, not just because of the tree, but because they’re rare. She hardly lets me take her photo anymore, which is hard, because she’s the reason I first picked up a camera. She was my first muse, the one who made me fall in love with capturing the little moments of childhood.⁠

I’m endlessly grateful for the thousands of photos I have of her over the years, proof of just how much she’s changed, and how, in some ways, she’s still the same little girl who saw magic in the every day—and made me see it too.

Toddlers at newborn sessions always steal a piece of my heart.

Their big personalities bring so much heart to these sessions. The beauty is in the in-between, the way their little hands reach out with curiosity, the hugs that turn into squishes, the quiet moments when they pause just long enough to gaze at the baby.
