Toledo Photographer – How to keep a toddler happy during a photo session

Toddlers…that age of pure adorableness and chaos wrapped into one pretty package. These little ones are some of my favorite subjects, even if they can be challenging to photograph at times. I love to photograph them because they are so real. They don’t hide their emotions. I can’t get enough of how authentic and true they are in front of the camera.

Family Photo Session Toledo Ohio – summer or fall?

I grew up in Florida and having four seasons was not something I experienced there. Living in the south, gave me such an appreciation for the change of seasons here in Ohio. It feels like each new one brings along little gifts to me. They also allow so many different photographic opportunities.

I was talking to some new parents the other day and we got on the topic of how nobody really tells you half the stuff that comes with having a new baby. You just kind of figure it out as you go.⁠
⁠
But the one thing people do say over and over is how fast it all goes.⁠
⁠
And it’s annoying when you’re exhausted and waking up every two hours… ⁠
⁠
but then somehow your kids are sleeping till noon and you’re wishing you could go back and hold that tiny version of them again for just a minute (ask me how I know!) ⁠
⁠
I always admire the parents who know how important it is to remember this time. Babies change so fast and sometimes photos are the only thing that bring you back to what those days actually felt like.

No pressure for everything to go 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 as planned ⁠
(because with kids they never do!) ⁠

We take our time and let things unfold naturally.⁠

Your kids get to explore while you love on them and just 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 for a little while.⁠

And while all of that is happening, ⁠
I’m paying attention to the details and ⁠

The way it feels to be together, before it quietly changes. ⁠

Pregnancy can feel so different than you imagined it would.

Some days you feel connected and strong.
Some days you’re exhausted and just trying to make it through the day.

Maybe you’ve looked at photos of yourself lately and picked apart every little thing.

Maybe you just do not quite feel like yourself.

But even here… 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘺 in this version of you.
